For the Love of Lavender Oil

Lavender is the oil most people immediately imagine being massaged with when the idea of an aromatherapy massage crops up. It’s soothing, calming, relaxing and smells like a summer day in the sunshine. But what can lavender oil do for you?

Other Uses for Lavender Oil

High quality lavender oil in your bathroom and kitchen really can work wonders. It’s well known to be one of the most useful of the essential oils to have around the house for cleaning – try adding a few drops to your laundry for gorgeous-smelling clothes, or try adding20 drops of lavender oil into a 250ml spray bottle, fill the rest of the bottle with water, shake well and spray around the home for a natural air freshener.

Where luscious lavender oil can be most effective, though, is in promoting natural health.

Lavender is one of the few essential oils that is so gentle it’s fine to apply it directly to your skin. It can be really nourishing, but also works well applied to burns and scalds for faster healing. During the First World War, lavender oil was used in hospitals to help heal wounds, minimise infection and even to disinfect hospital floors. When penicillin was introduced, it was slowly phased out.

Add lavender oil to your bath if you need to unwind before you go to bed. You only need to add a few drops to a lovely warm bath for a really relaxing soak that will help send you off to sleep with a contented smile. If you have been having problems with insomnia, you could also try adding couple of drops to a tissue and placing it under your pillow at night

Lavender Oil: Tension Reliever

Lavender is one of the most recommended essential oils for stress and tension, and is wonderful when added to a soothing carrier oil and massaged into your body for relaxation. You can feel the tension and anxiety melting away as you inhale the sweet, floral scent. Alternatively, relax your whole room with an oil burner or diffuser and a few drops of lavender oil, the house will smell beautiful and you’ll all feel very chilled out!

When you have a headache a little lavender oil can work wonders – apply a few drops to your temples and massage in very gently.

Our recommendation – always keep some lavender oil in the house; you never know when you’ll need it!
